“Carioca Soul are a seven-piece Yorkshire band blending bossa nova and Brazilian grooves with contemporary jazz, funk, soul and original songwriting. Inspired by Sergio Mendes and Brasil ’66, their uplifting, colourful sound is equally at home in jazz clubs, concert venues and on summer festival stages. The band is led by pianist, songwriter and musical director Wayne Pollock. His credits include co-writing “No Love Child” for Corinne Bailey Rae and “How Do I Move On” for Jane McDonald, collaborating with Ibiza saxophonist Lovely Laura, and arranging Jaki Graham’s album For Sentimental Reasons. Wayne’s music has been playlisted by BBC Radio 2 and broadcast on Jazz FM and national television. Carioca Soul have performed at Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival and Chapel Allerton Arts Festival, and supported acclaimed American saxophonist Harry Allen.
