About Us
Carioca Soul are a UK-based Latin jazz and soul collective, blending the warmth of Brazilian rhythms with contemporary groove, funk and melody.
Inspired by the classic sounds of Sergio Mendes and Brasil ’66, the band draw on bossa nova, samba and modern Brazilian music, combining them with original material and soulful arrangements. The result is an uplifting, danceable sound that feels effortlessly cool — equally at home in jazz clubs, festivals and summer outdoor stages.
Led by pianist, musical director and songwriter Wayne Pollock, Carioca Soul brings together some of the UK’s finest jazz musicians. Wayne has written music for artists including Corinne Bailey Rae, Jane McDonald and saxophonist Lovely Laura Saxe, bringing a strong melodic identity and songwriter’s sensibility to the band’s sound.
The band have supported international artists including US saxophonist Harry Allen and are regular favourites at jazz clubs and festivals across the UK, earning praise for their freshness, musicality and infectious groove.
Whether delivering intimate jazz performances or high-energy festival sets, Carioca Soul offer vibrant Latin-inspired music with style, soul and a modern edge.
